Submission Preparation Checklist
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
Research Articles
Full-length, original research articles that contribute substantially to the field of communication and media studies. Manuscripts should present rigorous methodology, strong theoretical grounding, and clear implications for research or practice. Word count: 5,000–8,000 words. This section is active, peer-reviewed, requires abstracts, included in indexing, open for author submission, title and author names shown in TOC.
Brief Reports
Short, focused manuscripts reporting preliminary findings, concise empirical studies, short field reports, or focused theoretical reflections. Brief Reports prioritize timely communication of important insights that do not require the length of a full research article. This section default: peer-reviewed, included in indexing, requires abstract. Word count: 2,500–4,000 words.
Research-in-Progress / Practice Notes
Concise notes (methodological innovations, early-stage results, fieldwork reflections, or practice reports) that present ongoing research or innovative practices. These items aim to foster dialogue and receive constructive feedback; they undergo expedited editorial or peer review depending on content. Word count: approx. 1,000 words.
Classroom Observations
Practical case notes and reflections documenting teaching and learning practices in communication and media education. Submissions should provide clear description of context, methods of observation, pedagogical implications, and potential for replication or adaptation. These items undergo editorial review and may be subject to light peer review. Word count: approx. 1,000 words.
Software Reviews
Critical and concise evaluations of software, digital tools, platforms, or applications relevant to communication research and practice. Reviews should address functionality, applicability to research/teaching, strengths & limitations, and recommended use. Submissions are typically short and undergo editorial review. Word count: approx. 800 words.
Book Reviews
Book Reviews provide critical evaluations of recently published books in the field of communication, media, and related disciplines. Reviews should highlight the book’s contribution, strengths, and limitations, as well as its relevance for scholars, practitioners, or students. Submissions are concise and evaluative rather than descriptive. Word count: up to 1,500 words
